Another Cool New Treat From Paris Baguette: An Almond-Rum Pastry

If an almond croissant and a canele had a love child, the result would be the delicious Almond Rum Pastry ($2.50). The latest item in a string of successful new pastries created by Paris Baguette.


Layers of laminated croissant dough surround a center of aromatic and flavorful frangipane filling dotted with vanilla bean pulp and washed with rum.


But this isn't just an almond croissant in a funky new shape. The edges are well baked and crispy, almost like puff pastry. The result is a simple but successful little pastry that's something all its own.


If you're looking for something a little more festive, try Paris Baguette's Strawberry and Blueberry Yogurt Cake ($5.50). Soft golden cake layers combine with a light whipped cream and a thick, almost custard-like blueberry yogurt filing.


This cake is soft throughout and only mildly sweet. The fruit is fresh and the whipped cream seems as though it were just piped.
