The deal if you're not familiar: pizzerias from all over the city gather under one roof, handing out slices of pizza in exchange for a ticket. You buy your tickets at the door for $1 each and start assembling your pizza dream team. What does a Di Fara slice taste like next to one from Motorino? Now's your chance to find out.
Slice Out Hunger has confirmed at least 600 pies for the evening. For every dollar ticket purchased, Scott's Pizza Tours will match a dollar in donations, and the Brooklyn Flea will contribute 50 cents. At eight slices per pie, that means about $12,000 to the Food Bank for New York City, enough, Scott tells us, for about 60,000 meals for New York's homeless and hungry.
The event will also feature a raffle with prizes including pizza tours of New York and Chicago, our own Ed Levine's Pizza: A Slice of Heaven, and more.
Crowds line up fast for this event, so if you plan on going, consider heading over an hour or two early to guarantee first picks on all the pizza. A full list of participating pizzerias is below; visit the Slice Out Hunger website to learn more.
