With temperatures well into the 90's this weekend, yesterday was an ideal Sunday for the Brooklyn Ice Cream Takedown.
20 New Yorkers prepped their custards and readied their ice cream scoops for the competition at the Bell House. Flavors ranged from the traditional, like Mexican Hot Chocolate, to the more adventurous, like Oatmeal Stout and Bacon, and everything from Cannoli to Cococados in between.
The teams competed for a group of ice cream expert judges (Il Laboratorio del Gelato, Phin & Phebe's, Mikey Likes It, and more) and the vote of the crowd for a grand prize. Russell Berger's Butterscotch Beatdown ice cream won the judges' favor, but in the end the people's pick went to Alice Anigacz for her Lemon Meringue pie ice cream.
