Sugar Rush: Pineapple Coconut Cake from Lee Lee's Baked Goods
Your daily dose of something sweet.

Lee's Lee's in Harlem is known for their fantastic rugelach, but don't stop with them alone. Their Pineapple coconut cake ($3) offers a particularly compelling value. For three dollars you get a monster wedge of cake (the photo is about a half of an actual slice) that's immensely satisfying, especially with a weight of about 3/4 of a pound.
The cake is fresh—perhaps the secret to its success—and ridiculously moist. A very, very sweet layer of softened pineapple filling binds the cake layers, moistening them even further. The thick layer of shredded coconut frosting on top is, unsurprisingly, also very sweet.
Split this with a friend and enjoy.
