Mario Batali has called Philadelphia's Vetri "Possibly the best Italian Restaurant on the East Coast," so it was no surprise when Chef Marc Vetri was invited to cook an exclusive one-night-only dinner last Friday as a part of Eataly's La Scuola program.
The dinner was not only the perfect opportunity to get a taste of Vetri's food without taking the trip to Philly, but also a great mini-lesson in Italian cuisine. Chef Vetri took breaks between cooking in the open kitchen to talk about each course before it was served, and the intimate classroom-like setting meant that there were plenty of opportunities to chat with the chef one-on-one between courses. Eataly's wine team provided an Italian wine pairing for every course, as well as some background on each bottle. And if the communal seating weren't enough, the abundance of good wine and good food ensured that you would make new friends before the meal was through.
