In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.
Until Dickson's Farmstand Meats starts making pressed sandwiches (happening soon), the options at their All Good Things stand are of the refrigerated grab-and-go variety.
On the Homestyle Meatloaf Sandwich ($8), beef and bacon meatloaf acts as the wise chaperone to a youthful couple of ketchup and pickles. The meat is fresh and well seasoned, and the bacon gives it a nice faint touch of salt and smoke. The sandwich's time spent in the fridge case doesn't have the friendliest effect on the white bread, but the texture and snap from the pickles adds a certain liveliness that helps rejuvenate it. It's what's inside that counts here, and it's clear Dickson's doesn't shy from quality.
