Sugar Rush: Black Forest Baked Alaska at DBGB
Your daily dose of something sweet.

There aren't many places in New York where you can find baked Alaska, much less one that alone, can justify (many) returns. Enter DBGB where the Baked Alaska ($18, serves 2-3 people) changes with the season. They did a vanilla, raspberry and verbena ice cream combo when they first opened, and now it's offered with all the elements of a traditional black forest cake. Almond cake soaked in housemade cherry syrup serves as the base. It's topped with layers of vanilla and chocolate ice cream as well as a sour cherry sorbet. A billowy top of meringue seals everything in, and then comes the fun part: a generous pour of kirsch, and wooosh flambé! Tableside, of course.
