A Sandwich a Day: The Thanksgiving Special Hero at Parm

A Sandwich a Day

A new sandwich every day.

In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

Parm has a knack for perfecting iconic sandwiches. Their namesake sandwich, the Chicken Parm has set a high standard for a deli classic (as has the meatball). Their Saratoga Club is a perfect rendition of the triple decker sandwiches that I've eaten hundreds of times in 24 hour diners and sad hotel rooms.

Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.

The Thanksgiving Hero ($14) recalls the cheery memories of Black Fridays spent stacking leftovers on yesterday's dinner rolls, but on better bread. Parm's famed honey- and garlic-roasted turkey breast is layered with fried sage leaves, tangy cranberry sauce, and a light, airy mayonnaise. The semolina hero is spread with a thin layer of buttery mashed sweet potato purée and sparsely flecked leaves of thyme, which managed to bring a distinctly 'stuffing-esque' flavor without the additional starch. Here at the office, the sandwich was gone two minutes after we cut in to it.

Don't wait to head down to Parm for their Thanksgiving hero, as it will only be available until the end of the week. At $14, it's definitely expensive for a sandwich that you won't want to share with anyone, but it's everything Thanksgiving should be.
