Scenes from After Sandy: Food Folks Keep Serving, Help Out
In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, we've seen many of our favorite spots darkened while others came back to life, mixing dough by hand or making cocktails by candlelight. And others have taken it upon themselves to help out others in the community: The Dutch and Northern Spy gave out free meals, Lonestar Taco headed down to the Seaport to serve tacos for free, and a whole brigade of food trucks (with the sponsorship of Jet Blue) headed out to some of the hardest-hit areas to give food away there.
"I have to say that it's been really wonderful to help feed our community," said Keith from Milk Truck; "We work mostly downtown and have relationships with a lot of folks there."
Come take a look at a few restaurants and trucks that've helped out in their communities, or just weathered the elements.
