Many restaurants are still assessing the scope of the damage to their businesses, and others already know they're in for the long haul. Though much of downtown is still in a state of recovery, we've heard encouraging things about restaurants north of midtown and in Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx.

Eater, Grubstreet, and the Village Voice are maintaining updated guides on restaurants, bars, and shops that are open for business all around the city. The Lo-Down is also bringing news from the Lower East Side about businesses, including many restaurants, as they hear. Seamless is keeping tabs on restaurants open for delivery. On Twitter, restaurants and eaters have started using #openinnyc to mark spots open for business. And as always, if you hear any news, let us know by email or on Twitter.

Any businesses that are open now could definitely use the revenue, as can the employees who work hourly and on tips. So if you can go out to eat and want to do some good for your local economy, spend hungrily and tip generously!
