The Gohan Society, a non-profit that works to promote awareness and appreciation of Japanese cuisine and culinary history, is holding a fundraising food festival at the Brooklyn Brewery on October 4th. This should be a pretty spectacular event, because some of the best (and our favorite) restaurants in the city will be participating: Morimoto, Oceana, Sushi Zen, Gramercy Tavern, Takahachi, Red Rooster, Tori Shin, Blue Ribbon Brooklyn, Soba Totto, Sakagura, and Talde.

The contributing chefs aren't all Japanese, but they'll be using Japanese ingredients. Japanese whiskey, sake, and brews from the Brooklyn Brewery (naturally) will be served, and Iron Chef Masharu Morimoto is giving a demonstration. A taiko drum group, Soh Daiko, is set to perform, and there will also be a silent auction and raffle. Tickets are $125, and you can buy them here.

Can't make it yourself? Check back next Friday for a full recap!
