Want the comforting familiarity of a Big Mac, but the exotic ingredients of a gyro? Mama Gyro's Mama Sauce is eerily similar to the beloved Special Sauce. Slather this mayo-ketchup mixture on Mama's Gyro ($4), a pita that comes stuffed with rotisserie chicken, French fries, onions, and tomatoes.
The creamy sauce moistens and flavors the mild, crisp-edged chicken, and it pairs well with the French fries stuffed into the soft, chewy pita. Though worth nothing: the tomato and onion could stand to have more flavor and crunch, and the large chunks of chicken more closely resembled souvlaki than thinly sliced gyro meat. But despite those flaws, this gyro makes a satisfying small lunch or mid-afternoon snack at a crazy cheap price.
Don't want your gyro to taste like a burger? You can order this gyro with tzatziki instead for a more Greek experience.
