First Look: The New Brunch Dishes at Union Square Cafe

Note: First Looks give previews of new dishes, drinks, and menus we're curious about. Since they are arranged photo shoots and interviews with restaurants, we do not make critical evaluations or recommendations.
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of their brunch—and yes, they are calling it a brunchiversary—Union Square Cafe is adding some new, fall-inspired dishes to the menu. "It's like Brunch 2.0," said general manager Sam Lipp.
In addition to the menu standards—the gravlax, the brioche french toast, the burger and plenty more—you will now be able to find some new, interesting egg dishes, some warm apple cinnamon rolls, and—wait for it—lobster stew served in its own gourd. Shouldn't more dishes be served in their own gourds?
"This has allowed us to squeeze in some new dishes into the USC repertoire," said executive chef Carmen Quagliata, who wanted to give Serious Eats an exclusive peek at the new brunch items, which join the menu this coming weekend. Take a look at all five dishes in the slideshow!
