A Sandwich a Day: Kruveet Pita at Taboonette

A Sandwich a Day

A new sandwich every day.

In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

"Why can't we just eat from Taboonette all the time," we asked ourselves last week. This Israeli-ish (I say "ish" because of the awesome roast pork on the menu) Union Square lunch spot just makes us feel instantly happier.

Case in point: the Kruveet pita ($7.75) stuffed with roast cauliflower, eggplant, hummus, and tahini for a warm, pillowy vegetable hug. The cauliflower is tender but not mushy, the eggplant melts into dreamy hummus, and the extra dose of tahini adds an extra layer of nuttiness. As we've mentioned before, Taboonette's pita is incredibly fluffy and soft, and it remains that way even after a delivery. Thank you, pita sandwich, for making our day better.
