The dessert menu at Soba Totto is not to be missed. You'll find classic Japanese sweets—think mini fresh mochi balls topped with a housemade black sugar syrup and scoop of green tea ice cream. And you'll find some not-so-classic Japanese sweets, such as chocolate or peach mousse served with ice cream. But perhaps most intriguing is this Pumpkin Custard ($6). It's very dense, but in a good way, featuring pumpkin puréee beaten with just enough eggs and cream to form a custard. It's barely sweetened with brown sugar and served in chilled squares, accompanied by whipped cream and vanilla ice cream (you can substitute green tea ice cream if preferred). Those crispy brown bits you see on top? Toasted buckwheat!
