Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
Ronnybrook Farms' Chelsea Market Milk Bar can be kind of a zoo, especially in the ice cream line, but if you have the patience for its sluggish kitchen you will be rewarded handsomely. One of those rewards is the Free Range Roast Chicken ($9.50 w/ side salad). For a sandwich with 'Roast Chicken' in its name, this guy is much more about the accompaniments, but we aren't really complaining.
The gooey combination of warm cheddar, avocado and (not very) spicy mayo is pretty delightful— salty, rich and creamy. Though this filling takes to slipping out one end of the baguette, you really won't mind. And while the chicken definitely isn't the star, it's a fine means of making the sandwich a bit heftier. The baguette isn't the best around town, but the sturdy crumbs holds up well to the filling. This sandwich isn't meant to blow any minds, but it's a solid choice for sandwich lovers in the Chelsea area.
