We love just about everything at Parm, but their towering ice cream cake leaves a special impression. It's basically the Carvel cake of your dreams: three ice cream layers, rich chocolate cookie crumbles in between, and sprinkles with a candy-red cherry on top. Except of course that the ice cream that goes into said cake is some mighty flavorful gelato.
For a limited time (so get there soon), you can find this S'Mores ice cream cake ($11) on the menu. It's a s'more de- and reconstructed, with separate layers of graham cracker, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow gelato. There's something of a brain melt that happens when you eat a frozen dessert that tastes so much like something else entirely. Close your eyes, ignore the temperature differential, and yes, it's like eating a s'more, but even better, because it's also cake. And even better than that because this ice cream is dense and rich but not at all heavy. The chocolate is mellow and milky but plenty bold, and the toasted marshmallow layer will ruin you for marshmallows—frozen, brûléed, or otherwise—anywhere else.
