Dominique Ansel Bakery just keeps making our lives better with their incredible pastries and ever-evolving novelties. To add to the list of things they do so very well: sorbet.
Green Apple and Raspberry ($4.50 for a 2-scoop small) are as pure and bright as can be, with the dense, creamy, almost spreadable texture that will have you thinking of ice cream more than icy sorbet. To get that way, they do veer towards the sweet side, but without losing the integrity of their fruit bases.
For about a dollar extra, you can get a topping of baby meringues in flavors like vanilla, lemon, and blueberry. They're tender, crisp, and chewy all at once: sprinkles, fancy French bakery-style.
