Bklyn Larder's pints (the same ice cream you get at Franny's; $8.95/pint) are a little more ice cream-like than your typical gelato, but they're great enough for us to overlook the gaffe. They're definitely gelato-like: dense and creamy with powerful, simple flavors that are clean from start to finish.
Carey is taken with their Fior di Latte; I'm pretty fond of the zabaglione. There are plenty of ways an eggy ice cream with sweet wine can go wrong, but this is fantastic stuff: a good hit of booze, the rich custardy depth of egg, and a sweetness that doesn't overpower the delicate flavor of the grapes.
