The dessert menu at Angelica Kitchen changes daily, but you can always expect to find Fruit Crumble ($6.25) or Kanten Parfait ($5.25). A loose jelly served cool, kantens come as layered parfaits often capped with a velvety almond cream. The preparation here is different from most Asian desserts (where kanten usually appears); it's composed from a blend of apple cider, agar, kuzu, and fresh fruit. As for the crumble, I found apples on one visit and rhubarb on another, all of them topped with a crunchy spelt crumble and spoonful of lemon cream. It's a balance of tart, sweet, warm, and satisfying that I don't expect to find in "healthy" restaurants.
