In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

Two-dollar and under sandwiches aren't just a feature in Chinatown—they're a genre. So consider this part of our eventual series, "What You Can Get For Eight Quarters In Chinatown." The Fried Chicken sandwich ($1.75) at the newly opened Sweet House Inc. doesn't stray far from your expectations—it's actually pretty close to a fast food 'wich—and there's a primal pleasure in it that I'd gladly down again.

The fried chicken is a small strip of breaded breast, cooked a little past tender but to the benefit of a crisp, sturdy exterior. Mayo, iceberg, and tomato join the party, but this is really all about the sweet, squishy Chinese bakery bun you either love or hate. If you're a fan of it, and if you're looking to eat on the really cheap, this sandwich will do you right.
