Market Scene: Asparagus, Fiddleheads, Nettles and More at the Union Square Greenmarket

In season now: Asparagus, Fiddlehead, Stinging Nettles, Rhubarb, Ramps, Green Garlic, Fresh Garlic, Strawberries, Spring Greens and Lettuces, Green Onions
In season soon: More Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Fava Beans, Peas, Pea Greens, Pole Beans.

If our last Market Scene check-in showed the Greenmarket starting to warm up for Spring, then this last week at the market felt like things were really kicking. Asparagus, stinging nettles, fiddlehead ferns, and even a few strawberries joined the party, along with the ramps and green garlic that signify the start of the season.

Click through the slideshow above for a closer look at all of the fine Spring produce at the market this week.
