Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
Fans of Zak Pelaccio's Fatty 'Cue will be pleased to know that the restaurant's West Village outpost has begun offering lunch, available Monday through Friday from noon to 3:30 pm. It's no ordinary lunch menu: dishes range from hearty salads to gut-busting sandwiches to mains like pork ribs and tripe.
We were psyched to try the Fried Oyster Roll ($13), which comes "top loaded" on a folded buttery slice of Texas toast. On a bed of garlicky cabbage kimchee you'll find a generous portion of tender fried oysters sporting a light crust, as well as some sliced cucumber and cilantro leaves to keep everything bright and refreshing. At $13, this lands slightly above our usual budget for daily sandwiches, but the perfectly crisp, grease-free potato chips that come on the side (portion larger than pictured) more than make up for the roll's hefty price tag.
