Cured meats get all the attention at Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria, but it's the gelato and the house-baked pastries which I love most. There's the classic olive oil cake, a tender soft ricotta loaf, and this precise wedge of Orange-Polenta Cake ($3.5). Just barely an inch high, it's plush with a fine crumb and that slightly crunchy texture from polenta; the overall cake only faintly sweet. It comes brushed in orange marmalade and thin slices of orange, rind and all. It's practically perfect when devoured warm with a pot of tea, either during the morning or the afternoon.
