Although the sit-down lunch menu at Il Buco Alimentari cannot be ordered to go, they have a small selection of take-home sandwiches at the deli counter ranging from $9-$11. The only vegetarian option is a take on the classic pear and Gorgonzola combination for $9.
While tangy Gorgonzola and sweet pears are lovely together, this sandwich is not for cheese amateurs. Each bite is dominated by the particularly strong Gorgonzola, which is a little overwhelming at first. The pears are cooked and soaked in Lambrusco, giving them a delicate hint of boozy flavor. Intermittent bites of the sweet soaked pears are a welcome addition and help to balance the intensity of the Gorgonzola. It's all served between house made bread that is soft and tastes freshly baked. The sandwich itself is surprisingly large and makes for a nice, filling lunch. If you're a stinky cheese fan, then the Pear and Gorgonzola from Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria is definitely worth a try.
