Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
The Serious Eats Team has enjoyed 'wichcraft's gussied-up sandwiches for some time now. So when we hear about new or seasonal menu items, we can't wait try them. One of the newbies we had today was the sweet potato, olive and mozzarella sandwich ($6.20), definitely a winner.
The bread was chewy in the center and super crunchy on the toasted edges. Sweet potato was pureed and spread between two fresh slices of mozz. (The nicoise olives, basil and shallots were a little hard to find, but the sandwich definitely picked up the olives' saltiness and the freshness of basil.) The flavor was warm and buttery--visions of foliage, and roaring fires danced in my head. I would gladly eat this filling, satisfying vegetarian sandwich in the fall, or anytime of year for that matter.
