Le Grand Fooding 2011: Campfire Session

Le Grand Fooding New York 2011 kicked off this past Saturday with the convivial Campfire Session, an evening of collaborative food and music, in which chefs and musicians created dishes together, set amidst the twinkling lights and requisite fire at the Elizabeth Street Garden.

As the sun set in the background, the warm camaraderie evident between the chef/musician teams created an intimate, friendly feel to the affair. Simply put, everyone was having fun; strolling around the garden, chatting in line with strangers-turned-friends (some of us may have even shared our Van Leeuwen roasted banana ice cream). It certainly didn't hurt that portions were generous, the music was good, and the cocktails (Milk & Honey's Sasha Petraske and Dutch Kills' Richard Boccato) were flowing.

I can only hope that Le Grand Fooding continues this event next year; a moderately priced ($50/ticket with $15 going to Action Against Hunger) event celebrating not just food, but music and the appreciation they have for each other.
