A Sandwich A Day: Pierrepont at Lassen & Hennigs

A Sandwich a Day

A new sandwich every day.

In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

The Pierrepont ($7.25) is named after a nearby street, but while ordering I couldn't shake that hook from How To Succeed In Business, (around minute 2:20) where our hero's name, J. Pierrepont, is sung oh-so-lovingly by his fiancée. The Pierrepont is a bit of a poof, with a fluffy bun and an over-eager amount of mayonnaise, but in its heart it's a good guy. A good sandwich, I mean. The roasted turkey is freshly sliced off a very large turkey breast (the kind you'd find at a Pilgrim's Thanksgiving), and bacon is there only as a sidekick—if you gave it any more stage time it'd steal the show. Armed with lettuce and tomato for freshness, the Pierrepont hits all the right notes.
