It's not on the menu, but ask, and if you're lucky, you shall receive. The Rhubarb Tart at Momofuku Ssäm Bar is a sight to behold, truly massive and equally delicious. A buttery puff pastry ring (deep brown, almost croissant-like and borderline savory) is easily shattered, revealing a filling of fresh, chunky rhubarb compote and softly whipped cream, crushed hazelnuts spilling out the sides. It's finished with slabs (not scoops!) of Szechuan peppercorn coffee ice cream, and while the peppercorn element is faint, coffee comes through bold and prominent. An unexpected pairing, but well-received by our table of five, which quickly devoured what may be officially deemed a large-format dessert.
