We've written about the sandwiches found at the back counter of The Lobster Place—affordable, fresh and flat-out delicious. But we're back today for their prepared salads, which make for a wise lunch option on warm days or for times you feel like eating something light but still flavorful. Best part? All salads are priced under $10 and include fresh seafood as the focal point.
The best of the bunch is the Mediterranean Salmon Salad ($8.50) which couples both zucchini and yellow squash with pitted olives, feta and, tomatoes. The generous cut of salmon is grilled and paired with a tangy lemon-herb vinaigrette over lettuce. If you prefer your salmon poached, go with the Miso Salmon Salad ($8.50), where the salmon is marinated with white miso then poached and served with roasted red peppers and a balsamic vinaigrette. They also do a variety of salads with seared tuna ($9.50); most memorable is a cold soba noodle salad with a creamy peanut dressing and slices of seared tuna. And if you're craving something smaller or a light savory snack, The Lobster Place also offers great versions of seaweed salad and a hijiki salad ($4 each, pictured above). Hikiji salad is usually only found at Japanese markets, but here they do it justice with thin sliced lotus root, grated carrots, toasted sesame seeds, and just a slight hint of fresh ginger. Pair the hijiki with a hot bowl of rice and that alone could be a meal.
