Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
This Greek-inspired corner eatery in the West Village has created a veggie sandwich that would satisfy just about anyone, vegetarian or no. Their roasted vegetable sandwich ($12) is simple in ingredients but delivers on flavor. It rests on a chewy, slightly sour ciabatta roll, which resists sogginess even under the juices of chopped and roasted portabella mushrooms (smoky and meaty, as portobella should be) and red pepper slices (chopped into daringly large chunks which add crunch and flavor rather than overwhelm). A thin smear of spicy feta cheese adds saltiness and a pile of baby arugula adds a bitterness that offsets nicely the sweetness of the peppers. It's a veggie sandwich that doesn't feel like a salad in disguise.
