You should have all figured out by now that we love our sandwiches. Actually, love isn't strong enough. We write about them everyday. Obsessed much? It's been our fantasy for a while to host a big ol' picnic with all of our favorite sandwiches in New York City. So, we're doing it! And it's going to be even better than we imagined it'd be. The Serious Eats All-Star Sandwich Festival will take place on Saturday, July 23 from noon to 4 p.m. on Governors Island. How's this for a line-up?
- Torrisi: Turkey hero
- Locanda Verde: Lamb meatball sliders
- Gramercy Tavern: House-smoked ham and cheese with pickled veggies
- Best Pizza: Meatball parm
- Salumeria Biellese and Sullivan Street Bakery: Special SE sandwich, never before available to the general public
- Banh Mi Zon: Banh mi
- Taim Mobile: Falafel
But Wait, There's More!
There will be a Maggie-Hoffman-assembled beer fridge full of craft brew favorites: Firestone Walker, The Bruery, Captain Lawrence, Blue Point, Smuttynose, Rodenbach, Founders, Victory, Sixpoint, Thomas Hooker, Elysian, Nebraska Brewing, and more. Plus Farnum Hill Ciders and lots of delicious wine: Montinore, Channing Daughters, Shaw, VOS Selections, and Bedell. And for dessert? Big Gay Ice Cream Truck and People's Pops. Stay tuned for more menu developments!
You'll also be able to meet Ed Levine, the rest of the SE crew, and the many columnists you love reading every week. It's a special opportunity to finally mingle in person with community members (we'll provide nametags so you can identify yourself as your username if you'd like).
There are a limited number of early bird reduced-priced tickets, so order them now!
VIP ($100 or $90 early; limited availability): All food and drink via speed lines, Serious Eats gift bag with a copy of Ed Levine's Pizza: A Slice of Heaven and other delights.
General Admission ($65 or $55 early): All food and drink.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Edible Schoolyard New York City. The event will take place on Saturday, July 23, at Governors Island from noon to 4 p.m. Free ferries leave from Manhattan and Brooklyn to Governors Island continuously from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. We hope to see you there!
