We love the ham and cheese sandwich that Michael Anthony, chef and partner at Gramercy Tavern, often serves as part of their lunchtime soup-and-sandwich special. We loved the ham and cheese that he created for pop-up cafe Sandwiched at the Whitney.

20110623-witchcraft-ctb.jpgSo we knew Anthony had to create a ham and cheese to serve at the Serious Eats Sandwich Festival. They smoke the ham in-house; it's smoky and sweet and shaved paper-thin. They also pickle a bunch of vegetables, that stay crisp, and go on there too atop cheese with some garlic aioli. It's the ham-and-cheese of our dreams.

Today's giveaway! Most of you know Tom Colicchio for his Top Chef judging skills and his knockout mini sandwich chain 'wichcraft. The fast-casual puts out some reliable sandwiches, and their companion book 'wichcraft is full of the favorites: Tuna with Fennel, Black Olives, and Lemon and Salami with Marinated Cauliflower and Bitter Greens, as well as some fantastic sandwich cookies.
