In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.
Now this is a excellent start to the day. $4.95 buys a breakfast croissant (surely large enough to fill you up until long past noon) at Bouley Studio. The croissant is made in-house, like all the Bouley pastries; it's flaky and buttery in all the right ways. It may not be the single best croissant in the city, but when fresh, still warm and filled with two scrambled eggs and sweet, meaty ham with crisp, almost charred edges, there's nothing more you could want from it. Somewhat messy, given how the croissant shatters, this is best eaten right on the spot at one of the outside tables. Next time, I'll also be adding cheese. (If you're going to do it, might as well go all the way.)
