A Sandwich a Day: Curried Chicken Salad with Pickled Ramps at No. 7 Sub
A new sandwich every day.
In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

"I haven't stopped thinking about that sandwich," said the woman in front of me at No. 7 Sub when I pointed to the curried chicken salad sandwich. You usually don't hear such strong words in reference to a curried chicken salad sandwich. But this isn't your average CCSS. The white chicken pieces are coated in a yellow, mint-required-after curry that's enlivened with pickled ramps. Say what you will about the ramp rage, the alliums add a garlicky, snappy bite to a sandwich that's already a flavor bomb.
In typical No. 7 Sub fashion, you have to pull back the bread to remember what else exactly is on the sandwich. Oh right; basil, too! The row of leaves adds a touch of sweetness, as do the plump golden raisins layered with the curry. It's a notably salty sandwich, but it's one of the more exciting ones on the No. 7 Sub menu right now. We assume it won't stick around for very long either given the precious supply of ramps.
