The newest candy shop in town comes by way of Sweden. It's called Socketbit, neatly tucked in the Village, a door down from Il Cantuccio on Christopher Street. The interior is minimalist, white from floor to ceiling, letting the colors of the bright candies pop from their plastic cases. Gummy candies, $12.99 a pound, are the highlight of Sockerbit. Here all the candy comes direct from Sweden; you'll find sweet-sour spaghetti straws in strawberry and blueberry, licorice gummies, sour coke bottles that are twice as chewy as their American counterparts, bouncy mango frogs (juicy—my favorite of the bunch by far!) and big gummy bear-shaped creatures—only they're not gummy bears but equally chewy marshmallow bears dipped in milk chocolate. There are normal chocolate-covered gummy bears if you desire, in flavors like raspberry and lime. Too many options; we haven't even begin to cover the tip. We'll be making a return trip for the chocolate candies!
