In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

While smoked fish is a pretty standard breakfast offering in New York, the open-faced smoked trout ($15) sandwich at Joseph Leonard is different enough to be interesting: with the cream cheese are firm flakes of fish, incredibly fresh-tasting horseradish, and chopped hard boiled egg, along with capers and pickled red onion. It's an excellent jumble of food that feels refreshing, not heavy—unlike many massive bagel sandwiches I've had.
