As an earnest proponent of broccoli rabe, salt, and garlic, it amazed me to find a sandwich—the Sausage and Broccoli Rabe hero ($9.50) at Artichoke Basille's—that was a little heavy on all three. But once you get past all that rabe, the sausage comes through, juicy and garlicky and fennel-y; it's a great combo done right by the simple, fresh hero roll it's served on.
