Served at both lunch and brunch, Lani Kai's Egg Sandwich ($9) is a simple, no-fuss classic done well. Toasted white bread and two fried eggs, complete with lightly browned and crisp edges, meet a generous helping of melted cheddar cheese; there's a smother of aioli on one side, with Bibb lettuce and thinly sliced red onions to top. Satisfying but not excessively rich, it's paired with your choice of green salad or chips; we prefer the latter, well-salted purple and white taro chips.
