Sugar Rush: Gelato at Stellina
Your daily dose of something sweet.

Banana gelato meets crushed animal crackers—why hasn't anyone thought of this before! The bananimal is just one of the few gelato choices ($3.50 a scoop) at the recently opened Stellina, and it might be my favorite. It's intensely banana in flavor, dotted with big and small pieces of animal crackers. Most of the flavors here are of the chunky sort, like the Chunky Stellina and its counterpart, the Chunky Sorella, featuring fudge swirls and crushed chocolate pretzels in salted caramel gelato. La Strada is for the indecisive—crushing in peanuts, marshmallows, and brownies in a milk chocolate gelato base. A mouthful indeed. There are also sorbets for those looking for something lighter. Tart and bold, in flavors including Red Grapefruit and Meyer Lemon, the sorbet flavors will be changing seasonally. Can't wait to see what the summer months bring.
