We're fans of almost everything on the menu at the Doughnut Plant (and they're opening a new Chelsea location on Monday!), but it's the constantly changing flavors that really keep us coming back. This February, you'll find Meyer Lemon and Crystallized Ginger, the flavors available in both yeast doughnut ($2.50) and cake doughnut ($2) form. Texturally, they're no different from their other doughnuts (the yeast are pleasantly airy, the cake have a somewhat dense, somewhat moist crumb), but the flavors are vivid: the crystallized ginger is both studded on the doughnut and present in the glaze; the Meyer Lemon glaze is streaked with zest, lending each bite a real hit of that distinctive, vibrant citrus flavor. No real surprises here, but if you're a fan of the Doughnut Plant and a fan of either flavor, you'll enjoy these. Available through the end of February.
