I was informed that there's no official name for this eye-catching dessert of strawberries and ladyfingers ($6) at Tarallucci e Vino in the East Village. Sweet syrup-soaked ladyfingers, moist and cake-y, are layered tightly along the sides of a deep cup. Next, quartered fresh strawberries, folded into a batch of fresh whipped cream, are tucked in the center before a final cover of ladyfingers. How to eat it? I find most satisfaction in peeling away the ladyfingers individually and spooning out a bit of the whipped cream and strawberries to accompany each bite.
