Your daily dose of something sweet.

Fennel is the predominate flavor in the Semolina Loaf ($4.95) at Amy's Bread, a sweet and easy-to-love loaf dotted in plump golden raisins. Whole fennel seeds are employed with abundance, crunchy and imparting strong a anise flavor to every bite. It's quite beautiful on its own, with a plush body and crusty, semolina-dusted surface, and requires little more than a slather of softened, salted butter. Alternatively, the bread makes for a killer snack when toasted and served with cheese, perhaps an oozy ripe wedge of La Tur.
