In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.
The Pawlet with La Quercia and Roast Tomatoes ($9.00) we had last week was certainly a fine way to celebrate National Sandwich Day. With ingredients sourced from all over the states, this sandwich certainly qualifies as All-American: Pawlet is a sweet, nutty cow's milk cheese from Vermont, while La Quercia is delicate and salty proscuitto from Iowa. The bread, tender and crackling from the panini grill, came all the way from Amy's Bread, next door. I especially liked the plump and zingy roast tomatoes, a welcome addition to this super-sourced, super-tasty ham and cheese.
