In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.
Think of the beef sausage hero at Má Pêche as, essentially, a glorified wiener. (The hero is $10 ordered online from Midtown Lunch, drink included.) The sausage has a crisp skin and juicy interior, and is wider than your average hot dog by a factor of three. It's nestled on a bun that is spread with a mustard sauce containing diced cucumbers, jalapeños, and those tiny mustard seeds that pop in your mouth. I also found a few thin strips of fried shallots lost among the mustard mixture, although I suspect they were supposed to grace the top of this sandwich in a fluffy pile.
Oh, the hardships of lunch to-go.
