A Sandwich A Day: Ham and Capocollo at Dickson's Farmstand Meats

A Sandwich a Day

A new sandwich every day.

In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

Usually at a butcher's shop, you don't expect to find complicated sandwiches. The meat of a sandwich is, well, the meat of the matter: what else do you need? Turns out even a sandwich starring meat can be improved by a good supporting cast. The Capocollo and Ham ($9) at Dickson's Farmstand pairs two phenomenal meats: smoky-sweet ham and chili-rubbed capocollo. Once you experience those two lunch meat divas set against a chorus of pickled red onion and spicy Sicilian pepperoncini, you'll start clapping your hands like an over-excited audience member. If you can't stand spicy, don't go near this sandwich, for it's as viciously hot as back-stage gossip.
