In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.
I've always had a special place in my heart for chubby Chinese girls. Not only is this because I currently have one inside of me fighting to get out, but now I can also add the Chubby Chinese Girl ($8.25) from Cer Té to my list of reasons as well.
Usually I don't condone ordering a sandwich that's named after what I used to be for 18 long years of my life, but for succulent chunks of duck, I can always change. The insides of this girl (available only on Thursdays) contains soy and citrus marinated duck, cilantro, hoisin sauce, chili, cucumbers and pickled radish. This may sound like a lot of ingredients, but the only one you should really pay attention to is the deliciously moist and juicy roasted duck. Although I wasn't able to pick up on any citrus notes, I was able to pick up on several duck fat notes; and for this ex-chubby Chinese girl, that's a definite upgrade.
