The month of October begs for pumpkin to be incorporated into your daily diet. Most often it is in the form of sweets—pumpkin milkshakes and doughnuts, muffins and cakes. But pumpkin shines in savory dishes as well. And that's why lunch today is at Locanda Verde, where the Pumpkin Agnolotti ($16) evokes autumn in a most comforting manner. Precisely ten pieces to an order, the silky tender squares are filled with a pumpkin puree, creamy and gently spiced with hints of nutmeg. Lightly bathed in a brown butter sauce flecked in sage, the pasta is finished with a grating of parmesan and crushed amaretti cookies. Almost sweet enough to qualify as lunch and dessert, the serving size is small, so it'll leave you with room for Karen DeMasco's Pumpkin Loaf. Order the slice to-go from the bakery counter, or have it to stay, where the dish is accompanied by warm roasted apples and mascarpone gelato.
