A Sandwich A Day: Tomato, Basil, and Mozzarella at Press 195
A new sandwich every day.
In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

Oh, the things you can do with a George Foreman grill. The panini, which is possibly the best invention since sliced bread, takes said bread and turns it into a thing of wonders. I say, why have a tall dignified sandwich when you can smush the thing flat and get a crispy crust and hot, gooey insides? The #13 Hot Press ($8) at Park Slope's Press 195 is a simple enough caprese sandwich with fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil—simple, but there's nothing wrong with simple. The brittle outside crust and melted mozzarella make it every inch a joy, although I did find the "famous pure maple basil pesto," almost too sweet. Maple syrup and garlic? Perhaps I am too simple to appreciate such sophistication.
