Taco Thursdays: El Globo, Queens
Searching for great tacos around the five boroughs with Sara Markel-Gonzalez.
After a month of taco eating around New York City, we are back in Queens for this week's post. El Globo Restaurant makes their own tortillas; aside from Nixtamal, not many taquerias have a tortilla machine in their space. Luckily, El Globo does, and they sell their tortillas by the pound—and of course their tacos are served on the freshly-made tortillas as well.
And not just tortillas, fresh masa is constantly being patted out for huaraches and quesadillas, and even though this is a taco post, I can't resist a freshly made quesadilla. Which is why after I ordered tacos de:carnitas and barbacoa (goat) and a taco al pastor, I also got a quesadilla de tinga (shredded chicken in chipotle sauce). There is definitely a difference in flavor and texture to a taco when the tortillas are freshly made. Find out more in the slideshow.
